Gadchiroli Dec. 2 (District Correspondent) Yorma Mayra Agriculture Tourist Center, Nawargaon near here has received the best agro- tourist centre award.
Ms. Manjusha Yogendra Modak, director of the centre was presented this prestigious award recently in the agriculture exhibition held at Nashik recently. Mr. Milind Gunaji, well known artist. Ms. Madhumati Sudarshan-Rathod, Dy. Director of the Tourism Directorate were the chief guests at this programme.
Ms. Modak was selected for this award as she planted the saplings of different varieties on the wasteland and gave her contribution in the conservation of nature.
Situated at village Nawargaon, around 15 kilometres from the district headquarters of Gadchiroli, different activities have been started in the Yorma Mayra Agro Tourist Centre that includes fish project, goat keeping, organic farming, rabbit keeping, fruits nursery, farm tank etc. A high tower has been erected in the centre to watch the wild animals, birds and natural beauty. Apart from this, a tasty food cooked on the local challahs using stone grilled spices, is prepared and served to the visitors.
A museum in the name of Mir Yousuf Ali, a Nawab of the Porla Estate, who was the British government-recognized hunter from 1935 to 1954 has also been set up in the centre which is a special place of attraction for the tourists.
Many tourists visit this centre every day and enjoy the natural beauty, food and the historical items displayed in the museum. With this award, the centre has received another feather in its honour.
