Gadchiroli Feb. 4 (District Correspondent) The 23rd state level biennial convention of the Maharashtra State Backward Class Electricity Workers’ Union (MSBCEWU), a prominent and recognized labour union will be held at R. K. Celebration Hall, Gadchiroli on 8th and 9th February 2025.

This was informed by Mr. N. B. Jaronde, Vice President of the union in a press conference here this afternoon.

The convention will be inaugurated by the National President of Swatantra Mazdoor Union J. S. Patil. Central president of the union Dr. Sanjay Ghodke, will preside. On this occasion, the direction of the organization’s future struggle will be decided on important issues such as the proposed privatization of power companies, increasing contractualization and opposition to smart meters, and the inclusion of contractual employees in permanent service, told Mr. Jaronde.

Director (Operations) of Mahapareshan Satish Chavan, Director (Human Resources) Sugat Gamre and Executive Director (Human Resources) of Mahanirmit  Dr. Nitin Wagh, National General Secretary of Swatantra Mazdoor Union A. V. Kiran and National Vice President Dr. K. P. Swaminathan will be present as the chief guests in the inaugural ceremony.

Senior journalist, famous writer and thinker Mr. Uttam Kamble will guide on the topic ‘Labor Movement: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow’. In the second session, historical researcher and writer Dr. Shrimant Kokate will guide on the topic ‘History of the egalitarian movement and inspiration of the working class’ and social thinker and writer Prabhu Rajgadkar will guide on the topic ‘Issues of Dalit, Tribal society and the direction of the upcoming struggle’. The National President of SMU J. S. Patil will be the chairman.

 

The next day, on February 9, in the worker enlightenment session, senior journalist and editor of Dainik Lokmat, Pune Mr. Sanjay Awate will guide on the topic ‘Ideology of the great men who built the country and we are the people of India’. The General Secretary of the organization Mr. Premanand Maurya will be the chairman.

In the second session, the work of the organization will be reviewed and a resolution will be adopted about the future path. In this session, which will be held under the chairmanship of Dr. Sanjay Ghodke, Mr. J. S. Patil will be the main guide. Patil will guide. Working president Sanjay More, general secretary Premanand Maurya, chief organizer Suryakant Janbandhu, legal advisor N. B. Jaronde, advisor S. K. Hanwate and Raju Gaikwad will also express their views.

A large number of electricity workers from every district of the state will be present in this convention which will be important for further strengthening the labour movement of Phule-Ambedkarite thoughts in Maharashtra and the country.

Chandrakant Sedmek, zone secretary, Kunal Patil, Dayanand Hadke, Gautam Ramteke, Vinay Motghare, Anil Zade, Narendra Dongre, J. P. Meshram, Sudhir Chaudhari, Mithun Shende, L.I. Thatkar, Ravindra Wakde, J.C. Ramteke, Vijay Diwte, Yogesh Salame, Vijay Sahare were also present at the press conference.
