Mendha becomes first Gram Sabha in the state to start MGNEGS work.

Gadchiroli March 16 (District Correspondent) A bhumipujan of Agriculture Ware House construction under MGNREGS was performed at village Mendha Lekha in Dhanora taluka on Wednesday at the hands of District Collector Sanjay Meena and in presence of worker Dewaji Tofa.

The state government had given sanction to the Gram Sabhas which have been granted community forest rights, as the implementing agencies to take up EGS works in 2021. Mendha Lekha has become the first such village in the state to start the work.

The said work is worth Rs. 34.02 lakhs including Rs. 1.43 lakh unskilled, Rs 27.01 lakh skilled and Rs 5.57 lakh material.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Meena said that the district administration will make all possible efforts to make Mendha Lekha an ideal village. He appealed the Gram Sabha to complete the construction pof godown in the given time and assured to take up the work of Samaj Mandir and roads in the village.

Mr. Meena also aske the villagers to send the proposals of the new works. If a village that completes the various developmental activities, other villages will also take inspiration from it and will take up the similar works, he hoped.

Mr. Tofa told the importance of constructing agriculture warehouse in the village saying that it will help the farmers to store their agricultural and forest produces safely. The Gram Sabha will take up the work with a good quality and the message of this village will reach in the entire country, he hoped.

Ms. Vijaya Jadhao, Dy. Collector (EGS) told the process of Gram Sabha’s functioning as the implementing agencies. The Gram Sabhas have got an opportunity to work independently now, she added. As many as 74 Gram Sabhas have been registered so far and labour budget of 43 Gram Sabhas is ready. A planning of 1633 works is completed. A provision of Rs. 5170.6 lakhs has been made for these works which includes 3046.3 un skilled, 2124.30 skilled. A total of 11.90 lakhs of man days will be created by these works, she informed.

In Dhanora taluka 3 ware houses have been sanctioned with the capacity of 25 metric tonnes and Mendha Lekha is the first project, told Ms. Jadhao.

Mr. Basawraj Mastoli, District Agriculture Superintendent, Virendra Jadhao, Tehsildar, Mr. Tichkule, block Development Officer and other officials were present on the occasion along with the office bearers of the Gram sabha and the villagers in large numbers.
