Leopard hunters nabbed by forest officials.

Gadchiroli Jan. 19 (District Correspondent) The officials from Purada forest Range coming under Wadsa division have arrested 3 persons for hunting a leopard. The skin and nails of the leopard have been seized by the forest officers and the accused have been arrested.

The names of those arrested are given as Vinayak Tekam, Mangalsing Madavi, residents of village Wagdara and Moreshwar Borkar, a resident of village Ramgad. The accused have been remanded to forest custody.

The forest officials had received an information about the hunting of the leopard in the forest near village Ramgad in Kurkheda taluka upon which SDFO Manoj Chavan, RFO Balaji Digole launched an operation under the guidance of CF Dr. Kishor Mankar and Wadsa DyCF Dhananjay Waybhase and arrested the hunters along with the skin and 11 nails of the leopard.   The other forest officials Sanjay Kankalawar, Bharat Rampurkar, Kamchand Dhawle, Amar Kannake, Shamrao Kulmethe, Suresh Ramteke, Sunanda Madavi, Gangadhar Mane, Gangadhar Nannaware also participated in the operation.

The accused were produced before the Kurkheda court which remanded them to forest custody of 7 days.

A gang of hunters might be involved behind this hunting, it is estimated by the forest officials and further investigations are on.
