Gadchiroli Jan. 31 (District Correspondent) Well known tribal litterateur Kusum Alam has been selected as the President of the 1 st Adiwasi Sahitya Sanskruti Sammelan to be held at Nashik on February 14 next.
Mr. Dewchand Mahato, President and Mr. Chetan Khandait, Secretary of the Adiwasi Kala Sanskruti Sahitya Acadamy, Maharashtra have communicated this decision to Ms. Alam through a letter.
Considering the invaluable contribution of Ms. Alam in the tribal literature and culture, this selection has been made unanimously, in the joint meeting of the Adiwasi Kala Sanskruti Sahitya Acadamy and Sankalpa Adiwasi yuwa Jagruti Sangathana, it has been stated in the letter. ‘The Sammelan will be give a new direction to the tribal literature under your chairpersonship’, said the letter further.
Ms. Kusum Alam is a well-known tribal litterateur and senior social activist. She had organized the first ever national level tribal women’s sahitya sammelan at Gadchiroli few years ago which had become quite successful and attracted attention of the litterateurs across the country.
