Gadchiroli Feb. 17 (District correspondent) The ‘Space on Wheels’ program was organized by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) at Science and Technology Resource Centre (STRC) of the Gondwana University here recently.

The Program ‘Space on Wheels’ was formally inaugurated at the hands of Dr. Anil Hirekhan, Registrar of the Gondwana University. Mr. Bhaskar Pathare, Finance and Accounts Officer of the University, Mr. Ashish Gharai, Head of STRC were prominently present.

The students from across the city participated in this programme to embark on a journey through the cosmos. Approximately 1200 enthusiastic students converged at the university campus, eager to dive into the wonders of majestic space exploration. The ISRO bus, stationed on campus for the day, catered to the curiosity of young minds, making the event a resounding success.

This initiative, a collaboration between Gondwana University, Gadchiroli and ISRO under the banner of Vigyan Bharati, aims to ignite passion for science, technology, and space exploration among the youths.

“It’s a privilege and honour for STRC to host the ‘Space on Wheels’ program on behalf of Indian Space Research Organization ISRO in a remote place like Gadchiroli. We are more thrilled to invite and host the children across 10 schools around Gondwana University said Mr. Ashis Gharai, Chief Programme Officer and Head of the Science and Technology Resource Centre, while expressing his views on the occasion.

Dr. Hirekhan extended his best wishes to the initiative and hoped it would definitely help the students and youths of the district in understanding the space science.

Science and Technology Resource Centre take immense pride in contributing to science and technology-based development in the region and helping young children get exposed to recent development in India’s space program, he added.

Enthusiastic Young minds around the city visited in groups from different schools along with their teachers to educate themselves about the magnificent world of Space and Universe and the technological aspects of it. They were informed about various satellites and its functioning in the space. They were also told about the Space research program and various scientists who shaped ISRO as a pioneer organization. A science exhibition was also organized on the occasion.
