Incubation Centre sanctioned for Gondwana University

Gadchiroli Aug. 31 (District Correspondent) The Gondwana University has been sanctioned Incubation Centre with the funds of Rs. 5 crores under Maharashtra State Innovation Start-up Policy 2018 as part of innovation eco-system.

With an objective to create innovation ecosystem across the University region, Prof. Manish Uttarwar, Director (Innovation, Incubation and Linkages) has initiated to undertake number of activities and programs. These initiatives include Chandrapur Business Competition, Hirkani – Nav Udyojak Competition, Skill based 1 year Bamboo Diploma and 16 certificate courses, Ekal – Forest and minor produce related capacity building training program for Gram Sabhas, Institution of skill-based courses having employment and entrepreneurship potential through Model Degree College, Carpet manufacturing CFC etc.

At present the Incubation Centre is operating from 900 sq. ft. dedicated space that is supported by another 3000 sq. ft. space featuring bamboo model production unit. Considering the geography and demographic divide, 8 sectoral verticals namely; MFP, Bamboo, Agriculture, Drone, Panchgavya, Ethno-medicine, Aquaculture and Tourism have been identified for the purpose of incubation. Similarly, Section 8 Company titled, “TribeTech Community Entrepreneurship Foundation – TRICEF” required as special purpose vehicle to incubate the locals, was incorporated on 20th May’2022.

A proposal for Category-I Incubation Centre was submitted to the Department of Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Govt. of Maharashtra for innovation ecosystem. The proposal of Category- I Incubation Center was finally approved by the government on 29th August last and is entitled for financial assistance of Rs. 5 Crore spread over the period of 5 years with an objective to generate 25 Start-up/Entrepreneurs.

This tightrope task was handled by Prof. Manish Uttarwar, Director of Innovation, Incubation and Linkages under the leadership of Dr. P. S. Bokare, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Shriram Kawle, Pro Vice-Chancellor, administrative support by Dr. Anil Hirekhan, Registrar and co-operation of Dr. Anil Chitade, former Registrar.
