Gadchiroli Jan. 2 (District Correspondent) Peer Educator Training Program was organized under National Adolescent Health Programme by Taluka Health Officer, Gadchiroli at village Navegaon (Murkhada) near here the other day.
Dr. Sunil Madavi, Taluka Health Officer presided over the programme while Dr. Vinod Bitpalliwar, Medical Officer, Dr. Basu Narote Medical Officer, Amirza, Dr. Vinod Mhshakhetri, District Epidemiological Officer, Dr. Sharda Kumre, Medical Officer, Potegaon, Dr. Karewar, Medical Officer, Chandala were present as the chief guests.
State Co-ordinator of Scientific Awareness Education Project of Maharashtra ANIS Mr. Vilas Nimborkar, District Working President Vitthalrao Kothare were also prominently present.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Madavi called upon the Asha workers and peer educator trainees to awaken the people and continue to educate them for medical treatment to bring the society out of superstition. Dr. Mhshakhetri gave valuable guidance that there is a need to take nutritious food to maintain body health and one should be ready to take advantage of various schemes of the government from time to time.
Along with this, all the chief guests present on the stage gave valuable guidance.
Mr. Vitthalrao Kothare banished superstition from the society by showing miracles such as extracting karani from coconut, keeping burning camphor on hand and mouth, repeatedly drawing water from a pot, changing the color of water, extracting precious objects or vibhuti from air, fetching water from cart, lighting yajna without matches, lighting lamp on water etc. He appealed to the youth to come forward for superstition eradication.
Mr. Nimborkar gave detailed information on what is hidden behind miracles, how they happen, what can be the causal factors behind them and how they should be discovered. Mantrashakti, divine power, or siddhi is not behind the said miracle but there is a scientific reason behind everything, he said.
The introduction of the program was done by Mrs. Katwale. Mr. Haridas Kotarange conducted the programme and vote of thanks was given by Vijay Ramteke. The program was attended by a large number of Asha workers and peer educators from Gadchiroli taluka.
