‘Gondi Dharma’ Sammelan demands Gondi Literature at Gondwana University.

Gadchiroli Oct. 31 (District Correspondent) ‘Koya Punem (Gondi Dharma) Vichar’ Parishad was organized by Gondwana Gondi Sanskriti Bhachu Samiti Paraswadi and Gondwana Gotul Samiti Murkhala (Navegaon) here to commemorate the memory of late tribal litterateur and thinker Acharya Motiravan Kangali the other day.

The program was presided over by Mr. Maniravan Dugga, well known tribal litterateur and District President of Gondwana Gantantra Party. Prof Ramesh Korcha, well known Gondi litterateur and Gondi Dharma activist, Mr. Vasantrao Kulsange, President of Veer Baburao Prabodhan Samiti, Dadaravan Kusram, noted poet were prominently present as the chief guests.

Maniravan Dugga said in his presidential speech that the Gondi Dharma has its own existence with distinct culture and own traditions. It is not part of any other religion but some sections have been trying to impose their religion on the Gond community with a motive of destroying the age-old Gondi Dharma. This is not proper and that will be resisted with full might, he warned.

Mr. Dugga further said that Gondi culture and religion teaches humanity, love and conservation of nature. This culture needs to be propagated and all the tribals should work for this, he appealed.

Mentioning tribals as the aboriginal residents, Prof. Korcha said the rights and existence of the tribals are being suppressed and they are being subjected to exploitation and injustice. The constitutional rights of the tribals should be safeguarded and all the aboriginal people should come together for this and launch a massive struggle, he appealed.

Various important resolutions were passed in the Parishad after day long deliberations. They included Gondi Literature should be created and taught in the Gondwana University, Gondi language speaking employees be appointed on the village level posts, erstwhile CP and Berar region should be declared as the independent Gondwana State, 50 percent royalty coming from mining in the district be spent on the welfare and development of the tribals, local people be given employment in Surjagad Project, steel plant based on Surjagad ore be started at Konsari in Chamorshi taluka etc.

The program was moderated by Mr. Prabhakar Yerme and vote of thanks was proposed by Prashant Madavi. A large number of tribals attended the programme. Mr. Ramchandra Soyam, Hariram Kotnak, Haridas Madavi, Arun Alam, Keshav Gedam, Kisan Madavi, Ujwala Soyam, Dinesh Sidam, Parvata Kumre, Bhaktadas Sadmake, Srirang Madavi were present in this program.
