Gadchiroli Feb. 24 (District Correspondent) Gadchiroli Panchayat Samiti has passed a unique resolution to give respectable social status to women.
A general meeting of the Panchayat Samiti was held recently under the chairmanship of Gadchiroli MLA Dr. Devrao Holi. Mr. Marotrao Ichodkar, former Chairman, Vice Chairman Vilas Dashmukhe were prominently present along with other department officers and PS office officers.
The important resolution was proposed by Mr. Hemant borkute, senior BJP activist and was passed unanimously by all those present. Widowed women are not treated well in the society even today hence it is needed to give equal and respectable treatment to widows, he said to stress his point.
Chairman of the meeting declared that the resolution has been passed. He also appealed all the gram sabhas to pass the similar resolutions in their meetings and stop the social evil of ill-treating widowed women.
Various important development schemes were reviewed and resolutions passed in this meeting. Dr. Holi directed to complete all the stalled projects of toilets, roads, drains, effectively and within a time limit.
The meeting started by garlanding the portraits of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj. In the meeting, the Sarpanchas insisted on solving the rural problems immediately and give relief to the people.
The MLA instructed the administration to prepare a time bound plan to complete all the pending works in time so that comman people are not suffered.
Mr. Ukandrao Raut, Extension Officer (Education) gave a vote of thanks and declared the meeting over. For the success of the meeting all the officials of the Panchayat Samiti took pains.
