Gadchiroli March 31 (District Correspondent) A young bullock was killed due to electric current this morning on Chamorshi Road.
According to information received from the eye witnesses, the two stray bullocks roaming on the Chamorshi road came into contact of an electric pole situated in the divider in front of the Function Hall. One of the bullocks however somehow got separated from but another one was killed on the spot.
Some citizens intimated the matter to the municipal council, upon which some employees of the council reached the spot and closed down the power supply. The dead bullock was taken away by the employees in a vehicle. On further enquiry it was found that the said bullock was thrown away in the open land away from the city without any postmortem or any other official procedure of panchanama etc.
The engineer of a private company which looks after the maintenance of the electric poles installed on the highway, told this correspondent that there was no any electric current on the site. He however did not rule out the possibility of such current leakage having occurred due to rains that had lashed the city during the last night.
When asked about this, the Chief Officer of the municipal council Suryakant Pidurkar told that he is on leave but will intimate the matter to the council authorities. Dy. CO Katkar told that the maintenance of the electric police is done by the highway construction company and will talk to its authorities. The bullock was disposed off without any postmortem, he told.
The street lights on the Chamorshi Road, which were switched off in the morning following the accident, were not started this evening for the reason best known to the authorities concerned and the entire area remained in darkness. The whereabouts of the owner of the bullock could not be known as yet.
It is understood that such incidents of electric current have taken place earlier also, but no any action has been taken by the concerned agencies and the accidents continue to happen which has become a matter of grave concern for the residents.
