Gadchiroli June 5 (District Correspondent) A buddha Vihara raised by the Buddhist community of village Bhakrondi in Armori taluka was inaugurated recently.

The statue of Gautam Buddha was installed at the hands of Bhante Anand Kirti, a senior Buddhist Monk while the Buddha Vihara was inaugurated at the hands of Mr. Rohidas Raut, social worker. Mr. Shyam Ramteke, social worker, presided over the programme while Mr. Anandrao Gedam, former MLA, Dharmanand Meshram, Hansraj Undirwade, Ashok Gadkari, Devendra Sonpipre, Prof. Dhargawe were prominently present as the chief guests.

At the outset, mass prayer ‘Buddha Vandana’ was recited and panchasheel flag was hoisted to mark the occasion. Bhante Anand Kirti then gave ‘Dhamma Desana’ and spoke about the principles of Buddhism and teachings of lord Buddha calling upon the people to follow these teachings in life.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Raut said Buddhism has spread all over the world because of its virtues and teachings which are immensely useful for the welfare of the mankind. It’s a matter of pride for the Indians that such a great personality was born in India. In the present scenario of war among the countries, growing enmity and hatred, the preachings of Buddha will bring about peace and brotherhood, he hoped.

In his presidential speech, Mr. Ramteke dwelt upon the values of Buddha’s teachings saying the Buddhism is a source of eternal values of love, equality and fraternity which are badly needed in the present world. Everyone should follow them to make the human life happy and prosperous, he added.

The other guests also expressed their views on the occasion and shed light on Buddha’s teachings and philosophy of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar who revived Buddhism in India.

Also present on the occasion were Pradeep Bhaisare, Kalidas Raut, Vilas Usendi, Adv. Sanjay Janbandhu, Chintaman Dhawle and others besides large number of people.

Mr. Yashwant Janbandhu conducted the programme and Bhaskar Dhawle proposed the vote of thanks.
