Gadchiroli July 7 (District Correspondent) Two students of Mahatma Gandhi college, Armori have outstanding performance in the national hockey tournament and have brought laurels to the college.

Bhushan Somankar, B.A.II nd year student of Mahatma Gandhi College, participated in the 7th National Hockey Indoor Six A Side Tournament held at Nashik recently. He played for the D. N. H. Mumbai team and won the second position. As a hockey goalkeeper, Bhushan performed best against Rajasthan, Delhi, Jharkhand, Gujarat team and became the runner-up in the final match against Calcutta.

Ms. Yadnya Sangole, the M. A. I st year student, who is a center forward player, played for the Vidarbha Six A Side Indoor Hockey Association team and led the team to second position. She has the lion’s share in taking the team to the finals with excellent performances against Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Jharkhand. Vidarbha team became the winner by innings against Calcutta.

The International Indoor Hockey Championships will be held in Bali, Indonesia from 15 September to 18 September 2023. Team coach Sameer Pathan expressed the opinion that players from his college can be selected in the international indoor hockey team.

President of Manoharbhai Shikshan Prasarak Mandal Ms. Sunitatai Vanmali, Vice President Noorallibhai Panjwani and Secretary Dr. Manojbhau Vanmali, Principal of the College Dr. Lal Singh Khalsa, Director of Physical Education and Sports Dr. Dnyaneshwar Thakre and all the professors of the college congratulated the students and wished them good luck for the upcoming competition.
