Gadchiroli Nov. 7 (District Correspondent) The Karwafa beat level three-day sports competition under the Integrated Tribal Development Project Gadchiroli began on Monday at Dhanurvidya Grounds on Semana Bypass Road here.
Assistant Project Officer Anil Somankar inaugurated the event. Assistant Project Officer Praful Poreddiwar presided over the program. APO Dr. Prabhu Sadamwar, Sudhakar Gaurkar, President of School Management Committee of Government English Medium Ashram School, Urmila Sidam, Bhaurao Nannaware, Chandrasekhar Sidam, Keshav Chavan, Project Sports Coordinator Satish Pawar, Pramila Dahagaonkar, Principal Vandana Mahalle, Principal Vijay Devtale, Mangesh Brahmankar, Anil Pawar, Sunil Nannewar, Junior Education Extension Officer Mukesh Gedam, Santosh Kannake, Head of Publicity Sudhir Shende, Dadaji Sonkar were present.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Poreddiwar said that tribal students are proficient in arts and sports. If they get a chance, they can show excellence at the state and national level. Along with intellectual development, physical development is important and players should play with affection and sportsmanship, he advised.
Mr. Anil Somankar appealed to the players to take inspiration from sports and build their lives and excel forward. The girls from Government English Medium Ashram School performed a traditional tribal dance.
The inaugural Kabaddi match was played between Karawafa and Potegaon. The Potegaon team was victorious in this. A total of 528 players, 294 boys and 234 girls from eight schools- Gadchiroli, Karwafa, Potegaon, Pendhari, Godalwahi and aided schools- Chandala, Girola, Gatta have participated in the meet. In the age group of 14, 17 and 19 years, kabaddi, kho-kho, volleyball, handball, relay and individual sports such as long jump, high jump, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw and running will be played during the meet.
Mr. Ravikant Pipre administered an oath to the referees and players. Principal Vandana Mahalle introduced the program. Gulab Dongarwar conducted the programme and Sandeep Rathod thanked the attendees.
Staff and students including Subhash Lande, Ramdas Pilare, Yashpal Pendam, Dakram Dhongde, Pratibha Banit, Sangeeta Modak, Sharda Kotangale, Priyanka Dubey, Ganesh Durkiwar, Ameer Uike, Jyoti Tekam, Sai Siddam and others cooperated for the success of the program.
