Gadchiroli Nov. 6 (District Correspondent) ‘Amhi Amchya Arogyasathi’ (AAA) a well-known NGO headed by Dr. Satish gogulwar and Shubhada Deshmukh has been honoured with ‘Social Impact Award-2022 sponsored by SPJIMR for its outstanding work on the issue of disabled people.
AAA has been working on the issues of people with disabilities for the last 2 decades. This includes empowering disabled persons through organization, providing skill development training and employment as well as providing training and financial support to disabled persons to do business. This led to the creation of Vidarbha Divyang Association and it has more than 3000 Divyang members. As many as 1069 disabled youths have been trained and 639 youths have been helped to get employment and 250 disabled youths have been helped to start their own business. ‘Goat Rearing Disabled Farmer Producer Company’ has also been established with 490 disabled goat farmers as its shareholders.
Through SPJIMR, awards are given to organizations working on various topics in the social sector in the country. This year social impact award 2022 has decided 6 topics under which 220 organizations submitted applications from which AAA has been selected for its outstanding work on the issue of disability.
The award was given to AAA online recently in presence of Mr. Mohammad Yusuf, founder of Bangladesh Grameen Bank and Nobel laureate. In his speech, he said that the poor are not poor because of the poverty but the system makes them poor. Therefore, empowerment approach is quite necessary while doing charity.
Ms. Chetna Gala Sinha, Founder, Mandeshi Sanstha and Mandeshi Bank; Neeraj Jain, Country Director Path India and Director Path South Asia; Harish Hande, Social Entrepreneurship CEO, SELCO Foundation, Alpana Malik, Senior Director, Regional Teach for India, Akhil Paul, Founder Director, Sense International India and Siva Devireddy, Founder & Managing Director, Gokup Solutions & Services Pvt Ltd were present as subject experts.
Dr. Satish Gogulwar accepted the award. The workers of the organization were also present. Dr. Gogulwar said that this award is the honour of the organization and this has increased its confidence.
