Gadchiroli June 4 (District Correspondent) A symbolic funeral procession was taken out by social activist and former member of the District Planning Committee, Arvind Katratwar, to press the demand that criminal proceedings be initiated against the Executive Engineer of Public Works Department (PWD) Division No. 2 Suresh Sakharwade as well as his early transfer and disciplinary action. The event captured the attention of the residents of Gadchiroli.
The symbolic funeral procession culminated in a demonstration held in front of the PWD Division No. 2 office located in the Lazenda area of the city. The entire area was reverberated with slogans such as “Remove Sakharwade, Save the PWD”. Katratwar launched a scathing attack on the government and the administration. If no action is taken even after exposing such gross misconduct, the agitation will be further intensified, he warned. He also asked as to why the government is safeguarding the officer.
During the protest, demands were raised for a thorough inquiry regarding the collapse of the bridge over the Khobragadi River in Korchi Taluka, road and bridge repair works undertaken in rural areas during the last financial year, and the process of issuing tenders for various works over the past three years.
