
Gadchiroli June 16 (District Correspondent) Ms. Geeta Hinge, social worker of the city was honoured with Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Samaj Bhushan Award by the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department of the state government.
The award was presented to Ms. hinge at Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium, Mumbai in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Social Justice Minister Sanjay Shirsat, Soil and Water Conservation Minister Sanjay Rathod, Cabinet Minister Bharat Gogavale and Principal Secretary of the Social Department Harshdeep Kamble.
The award consists of a medal, certificate and a cheque of Rs 75,000.
In Gadchiroli district, which is known as a tribal Naxal-affected district like Gadchiroli, Ms. hinge established the Aadhar Vishwa Foundation, a women’s organization, and has been implementing many social welfare activities for many years. Women empowerment, guidance camp for teenage girls, awareness about noise pollution, water pollution, plastic pollution, helping the needy in remote areas, among other activities, were implemented through Aadhar Vishwa Foundation.
During the Corona period, this Foundation became a support for the patients in home isolation. Not only this, she performed the last rites on the bodies died due to corona in absence of the family members. Taking note of her work, the Maharashtra government selected her for the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Samaj Bhushan Award.
I sincerely thank the government for this award. I consider it my fortune to receive an award in the name of a great person like Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. This award belongs to all the colleagues of Aadhar Vishwa Foundation who have supported me in this work, said Ms. Hinge.
