Gadchiroli Sept. 10 (District Correspondent) The residents of Chamorshi burnt down an effigy of Gadchiroli MLA Dr. Deorao Holi to protest against the alleged abuses and insulting treatment given to the workers of a Ganesh Mandal the other day.
According to information, Mr. Ashish Pipre, District General Secretary of the OBC Front of BJP and councillor of the Chamorshi Nagar Panchayat had gone to Dr. Holi’s residence along with some workers for the donation for Jai Bajrang Ganesh Mandal’s Ganpati. Dr. Holi allegedly used abusive language against Mr. Pipre and other workers during this visit.
Irked over this insult, the youths of the Mandal and citizens from Ward Number 3 of the town assembled in front of the pandal of Ganesh Mandal and burnt down the effigy of the MLA after shouting slogans against him.
Dr. Holi is elected on our votes and has become an MLA but he behaved in such an insulting manner and showered abuses on us that is why we protested against him, said Mr. Pipre.
Dr. Holi has always been opposing our community and did not attend any of our programmes despite several requests. He has been neglecting the BJP councillors and helping the opposition members in the Nagar Parishad and does not support our demand of liquor prohibition saying why do you demand prohibition, said Mr. Pipre. Disappointed over all this, the workers burnt down his effigy, he added.
This sort of injustice will not be tolerated. We will keep fighting for the people who have elected us, said Mr. Pipre warning that the workers will teach the MLA a lesson in the coming times.
