Gadchiroli Aug. 31 (District Correspondent) The village panchayats in the district are gradually coming up with resolutions to demand that the teacher’s recruitment in zilla Parishad schools in the district should be done from amongst the educated unemployed youths and not the retired teachers.
Village Panchayat Halewara in Etapalli taluka has sent a written memorandum in this regard demanding withdrawal of its decision on recruitment. The memorandum is signed by the Sarpancha and Dy. Sarpancha which has warned the Chief Minister not to let the retired teachers join their duties.
Jimalgatta in Aheri taluka is another village panchayat which has passed a resolution in its meeting demanding scrapping of the government decision. If the local educated unemployed youths are not given jobs, the retired teachers will not be allowed to join, the resolution has stated. The copies of this resolution have been sent to the district authorities.
These resolutions are very important on the background of the state government’s recent decision to recruit the retired teachers as primary school teachers. Many political parties and social organization as well as unions of the unemployed youths had strongly opposed the state government’s decision and had launched intensive agitation in its protest, it should be recalled here.
However, ignoring this opposition, the state government went ahead and started the actual recruitment. In Gadchiroli Zilla Parishad also more than 70 retired teachers were appointed by the Zilla Parishad administration.
There has been a huge disappointment among the unemployed youths of the district over the government decision. Now the village panchayats in remote areas like Halewara and Jimalgatta also have joined them.
