Gadchiroli May 25 (District Correspondent) ‘Every human being in the world needs knowledge, joy and happiness. If the principles of Buddhism are followed, one can get these things.  The energy to work comes from Dhamma. Because of these qualities, the Dhamma of Buddha has spread to various countries in the world today and a large number of people are following Buddhism’, stated Bhante Panyya Siri Thero while delivering a lecture at the Buddha Purnima here the other day.

The programme organized by the district branch of Buddhist Society of India at Rajiv Gandhi Sabhagriha was presided over by Mr. Tularam Raut, district president of the Buddhist Society of India, while Bhante Yashvardhan, writer from Nagpur, Milind Kirti, central teacher from Bhusawal, Arun Taide were present as the chief guests.

Bhante Panyya Thero further said if one wants peace of mind, control over lust and anger, Dhamma will definitely help. The teachings of Buddhism are aimed at the welfare and progress of entire mankind and joy and happiness of the human being. Buddha’s dhamma is to change oneself. The world has to adopt the preachings of Buddha, he added.

Writer and thinker Milind Kirti said that Dhamma is a way of life. Dhamma is necessary for self-respect, we have to search ourselves to find happiness. Human well-being can be achieved by practicing the Dhamma. The Dhamma is useful for the mankind even in the modern times of science and technology too, he stated.

In his presidential speech Mr. Tularam Raut extended his best wishes to the people and said in the present situation of war, anger, hatred Buddha Dhamma is needed as it will bring peace, love and brotherhood.

. Ms. Ujwala Shende provided drinking water and Prakash Shende provided kheer. The guests were introduced by Prof. Dr. Dilip Barsagade. Mr. Gautam Meshram made an introductory speech, General Secretary Prof. Gautam Dange conducted the programme and Devanand Phulzele proposed the vote of thanks.

On this occasion 37 child Shramner Sangh were especially present. The students of The Buddhist International School beautiful dance based on the life of Gautama Buddha.

Mr. Moreshwar Ambade, Lahu Ramteke, Ramnath Khobragade, Balkrishna Bambole, Sumitra Raut, Shital Bhaisare, Seema Khobragade, Aruna Raut, Namita Waghade, Pornima Durge, Leena Dholne, Jyoti Urade, Manisha Warke, Surekha Barsagade, Bhaskar Gaikwad, Suryabhan Ghutke, Ramesh Dongre, Machhindranath Vankar and others took pains for the success of the pogramme.
