Gadchiroli Dec. 26 (District correspondent) Dhangar Samaj Sangharsh Samiti, an organization of the Dhangar community organized took out a huge morcha on the Gadchiroli Collectorate this afternoon for pressing up various demands of the community.
The community members in their conventional attire along with the herd of sheep participated in large numbers that was the attraction of this morcha for the citizens of Gadchiroli. Even the women with their kids had participated in the morcha that proceeded to the collectorate winding through the main streets of the city. This was one of the huge morchas that the city of Gadchiroli witnessed in the recent history.
Former Rajya Sabha member Padmashri Dr. Vikas Mahatme, State Secretary Harish Khuje, Nagpur Divisional President Dr. Tushar Marlawar, Dr. Narayan Karrewar, Vijay Korewar led this morcha that proceeded to the collectorate covering more than 5 kilometres of distance shouting the slogans of their demands.
The main demands of the morcha were that the caste certificates issued by the government to the people of Zade and Zadia communities in Gadchiroli and Chandrapur districts should be cancelled immediately and that the shepherds should be allowed to graze their sheep in the forest area.
Thousands of women and men and women from both the districts of Chandrapur and Gadchiroli participated in this morcha. Dr. Vikas Mahatme and other members addressed the community members after the morcha reached at the Collector’s office. He strongly demanded that the demands raised by the Sangharsha samiti be fulfilled immediately and warned to launch more intensive agitation. A memorandum of demands was then submitted to the District Collector.
