4 persons from Nagpur arrested for ‘honey trapping’ Gadchiroli Engineer.

Gadchiroli Jan. 29 (District Correspondent) In a shocking case, the Gadchiroli police have arrested the four persons from Nagpur including a police official and a journalist for trapping an assistant engineer from Gadchiroli in a ‘honey trap’ through the ‘call girls’ and demanding a ransom of 10 lakhs from the engineer. All the four accused have been brought to Gadchiroli while one woman accused is absconding.

According to police, an Assistant Engineer working at Gadchiroli had gone to Nagpur for the government work on Jan. 3 last. He stayed in a hotel in Hingna, Nagpur that night as the hotel was arranged by his old friend. The two women also stayed in the same hotel. However, the women demanded money from the engineer accusing him of having committed a rape. Meanwhile, a police official from Nagpur Sushil Gawai and one Ravikant Kamble, a press reporter from Nagpur hatched a criminal conspiracy that the engineer had committed a rape on the woman and she has become pregnant from him.

By threatening the engineer to lodge a complaint about this and to defame him in the society, the accused demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh from him to settle the case.

Disturbed by this, the engineer lodged a complaint with the Gadchiroli police on Sunday. The Superintendent of Police Nilotpal sent Crime Branch team to Nagpur. On Monday, a trap was laid in Nagpur with the help of Nagpur city LCB and the gang was detained. The accused have been brought to Gadchiroli and a thorough investigation is underway.

The names of the accused who have been arrested have been given as Ravikant Kamble from Nagpur, police official Sushil Gavai, resident of Hingna, Nagpur, Rohit Ahir, resident of Subhash Nagar, Nagpur. These people including one woman have been arrested and taken into custody while one woman accused is absconding and her search is being conducted. The PSO of Gadchiroli Arun Fegde is investigating further into the case.

An offence under section 384, 389 of IPC has been registered with the Gadchiroli Police Station in this regard.

The said operation was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Nilotpal, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Kumar Chinta, Sub Divisional Police Officer Mayur Bhujbal by Gadchiroli Police Station Officer-in-Charge Arun Fegde, ASI Rahul Awhad, Hawaldar Akbar Poyam, Woman Hawaldar Lakshmi Vishwas, Walde, Prashant Garufde, Manohar Togarwar, Manik Nisar and Deepak Lotane.
