Gadchiroli May 10 (District Correspondent) The all-religion mass marriage ceremony was organized with great enthusiasm under the initiative and guidance of former Guardian Minister Raje Ambrishrao Atram and under the leadership of Gadi Mahakali Mandal in the remote village of Permili of the Aheri taluka recently.

In this grand mass wedding ceremony, the marriages of total of 111 couples from remote and naxal-affected villages were solemnized. The married couples included poor tribal youths and young women from other communities.

On this occasion, the whole village was served food. This was the first mass marriage ceremony in the area planned by Prashant Dhonge, a member of the Gadi Mahakali Mandal. Mr. Ambrishrao Atram took the responsibility of the guardianship of 111 brides on the occasion of this mass wedding ceremony.

The marriage ceremony took place in the evening in the grand courtyard of village Permili. On this occasion, Gondi, Madiya and Buddhist bride and groom were also married in their traditional manner.

Village Sarpanch of Permili Ms. Kiran Naitam Permili, Panchayat Samiti Member Prashant Dhonge, Former Panchayat Samiti Chairman Bodaji Gawde, Bapu Sadmek, Medpalli Sarpanch Nilesh Veladi, Former Zilla Parishad Member Ramreddy Baddamwar, Palle Sarpanch Raju Atram, Dy. Sarpanch Sunil Soyam were prominently present on the occasion. All the guests congratulated the newly wedded couples and extended them best wishes for the future.

From the very morning of the marriage ceremony, there was a ‘hustle and bustle’ in the village with the hundreds of villagers participating in the programme. All the villagers and the couples as well as the relatives accompanying them were provided meals by the organizers.

On this occasion, Mr. Ambrishrao Atram gifted the newly-bride-groom with mangalsutras of gold and daily use material like pots and pans. The bride and bridegroom were escorted out in a huge procession to the sound of drums. Mr. Ambrishrao Maharaj performed Kanyadan of all the brides.
