
Gadchiroli Aug. 28 (District Correspondent) The ‘Gadchiroli Zilla Vikas Samiti’ has decided to bring about a detailed blue print of the development of the district and make the necessary follow up of the issues relating to the development and welfare of the people here.
A seminar on the development of the district was organized by the Samiti at Sai Mandir Hall here to mark the 43 rd anniversary of the district recently in which this decision was taken unanimously.
The seminar was chaired by former MLA Dr. Namdeo Usendi. Noted tribal leader and former MLA Hiramanji Warkhede, President of the Samiti Prakash Taksande, social activists Kusum Alam, Manohar Hepat, Gandhian Prakash Arjunwar, Vidarbha Andolan Samiti’s Arun Munghate, ex councillors Chandrashekhar Bhadange, Gulab Madavi were prominently present as the speakers.
Addressing the seminar Mr. Warkhede said fighting for the just demands of the people is the constitutional right of every citizen. We should therefore fight against the administration fearlessly for our legal demands and get them resolved.
Dr. Usendi expressed the need of a balanced development of the district without disturbing the natural resources. The forest wealth above the land can be exploited for the industrial development and thereby raise the life standard of the people. The gap between the urban and rural areas needs to be filled in, he stated.
Mr. Rohidas Raut said it is very sad that the people of the remote areas have to be taken to the hospitals on the cots braving rains and floods in want of roads and bridges. The life of the people in rural parts has become quite difficult even after all these years of the Independence and district formation. Where has the funds gone, he asked and stressed the need of a strong public movement to raise the issues.
Mr. Prakash Taksande said no expected development of Gadchiroli has been achieved even after 43 years of the formation of the district, the basic amenities like roads, education, health, irrigation, employment etc have not reached the people living in remote areas, he pointed out and demanded that the government should focus on these issues.
Mr. Chandrashekhar Bhadange expressed discontent over the administration’s negligence in resolving the basic issues of the people and said people’s pressure alone can make the system work. Ms. Kusum Alam, Arjunwar, Manohar Hepat, Arun Munghate also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the problems of the people.
Also present in the seminar were Mr. Satyanarayan Kalantri, Tulshidas Sahare, Praveen Ghate, Pradeep Wadettiwar, Prabhakar Kamble, Tayyab Ali, Someshwar Ambatkar, Dilip Chaudhari, Manohar Chalakh, Nitin Pande, Gurudas Bhandekar, Devrao Alam and many others.
Finally, it was resolved to bring about a blue print of the development based on the issues of the people and submit it to the government and make the necessary follow up with the administrative officials.
