
Gadchiroli Sept. 21 (District Correspondent) In a historic and unanimous decision, the villagers of Halur under Pursalgondi Gram Panchayat in Etapalli taluka have passed a resolution to impose a complete ban on alcohol in the village. The women from the village, with motivation and support from the Lloyds Infinite Foundation (LIF), which has been working in the field of de-addiction, took the determined stand against the social and economic challenges caused by alcohol consumption.
The women emphasized alcohol addiction’s adverse impacts and collectively resolved to eliminate this menace from their village. Their decision has received overwhelming support from all villagers.
This initiative is expected to foster holistic village development, improve health, and strengthen social harmony. The resolution has been widely appreciated as a significant step towards building a progressive and prosperous community.
The key community leaders and women representatives who played an active role in driving this decision forward, included Sarpanch Ms. Arunatai Madhukar Sadmek, Police Patil Mr. Lachchu Hedau, Bhumia Mr. Dhansu Hode, and Women’s Committee leaders Ms. Kalawati Tirki (President), Mrs. Fulsina Ekka (Vice-President), Ms. Bali Hedo (Secretary).
Other active contributors included Navari Hedo, Bali Hedo, Shanti Kudeti, Tani Hedo, Jamata Hedo, Geeta Hedo, Chameli Minj, Vimla Kindo, Kalawati Tirki, Fulvati Toppo, Teresa Toppo, Savita Toppo, Savita Bada, Kilsita Rika, Savitri Atram, Bali Atram, Anita Minj, Irpe Atram, Pratima Tigga, Sanjana Hedo, Rajni Hedo, Kummen Hedo, and Shivani Gedam.
The Gram Sampark Kendra Officer Mr. Kishor Gawde extended significant support in coordinating this initiative.
The collective spirit and determination of Halur’s women and villagers have set an example of how unity can bring transformative change for a better and healthier society. LIF will continue to motivate and support the villagers in de-addiction initiatives, it has been informed.
