Gadchiroli July 21 (District Correspondent) The Congress party has asked the chief minister Devendra Fadnavis as to what gift for the district of Gadchiroli on his birthday.

Addressing a crowded press conference at the Circuit house here this afternoon, Mr. Mahendra Bramhanwade levelled charges of inaction and inefficacy against the chief minister and criticized that he tours the district just to help few industrialists and not for the comman people.

It has been three and a half years since he took over the guardianship of Gadchiroli district. However, apart from giving lollipops as the Chief Minister and Guardian Minister, Mr. Fadnavis has not done any noteworthy work for the development of the district. Therefore, the Congress Committee will celebrate his birthday on Tuesday by distributing lollipops and chocolates, declared Brahmanawade.

Brahmanawade further read out the comparison of developmental programmes done during the guardianship of the late R. R. Patil and that of Fadnavis and said Fadnavis has miserably failed as Guardian Minister of the district. He never gives time for the people of the district and just visits the few industries and goes back which shows he is interested only in the industrialists.

The issue of mineral funds of Rs 162 crore has been pending for a long time, the menace of wild elephants and tigers has not been resolved, work of roads and bridges has been stalled for years, the farmers who sold paddy have not yet received the full bonus, farmers who paid for electricity connections are not even given power supply, Bramhanwade pointed out.

As announced by the coalition government before the elections, farmers have not been freed from debt. The school busesare closed in want of shortage of drivers and conductors to drive them. Up to 50 percent of the posts are vacant in many departments in the district. The district has been plagued by many such problems; he said and asked whose development the chief minister is doing.

Did he accept the post of Guardian Minister of his own free will, for the development of the people of the district or only for his industrialist friends? The District Congress will distribute symbolic lollipops and chocolates in front of the Congress office, to draw the attention of the chief minister towards district development, he informed.

Armori MLA Ramdas Masram, former ZP vice president Manohar Poretti, Prabhakar Wasekar, Farmers front chief Wamanrao Savsakade, General Secretary Ghanshyam Wadhai, Mahila Congress president Adv. Kavita Mohorkar, Vasantha Raut, Rajnikant Motghare and many other Congress workers were present at the press conference.
