Gadchiroli Aug. 29 (District Correspondent) The whole country should wake up now to stop the violence against women. In the current era, the society should leave the male mentality of considering women weak, inefficient and inferior, asserted, Dr. Yogesh Patil, Principal of Mahila Mahavidyalaya here.

He was speaking at the women self-defence camp organized jointly by the National Service Scheme Department of Gondwana University and Department of Sports of Mahila Mahavidyalaya here the other day.

The entire country needs to be alarmed due to the violence against women in Armori, Nagbhid, Kolkata, Badlapur in the last fifteen days, Dr. Patil pointed out. Any civilized society should no longer tolerate the unjust oppression of women, said Dr. Anita Lokhande. Karate Academy Coach Milind Gedam said women’s self-defence is the need of the hour. For this, women were urged to become self-reliant by taking training in judo and karate.

Dr. Kundan Dufare, Milind Gedam, Mohit Meshram, Ms. Nandini Barsagade, Ms. Lavanya Kowe were mainly seated on the dais. On this occasion, Milind Gedam and his team demonstrated various karate games.

Program Officer Dr. Kundan Dufare made an introductory speech and conducted the programme. Mr. Maroti Waghdhare proposed the vote of thanks. College students and professors for the program Nandaji Satpute, Dr. Pramod Bodhane, Dr. Pragya Tripathi, Prof. Darshana Khewle, Prof. Kirti Pullakwar, Dr. Amit Gajbhiye, Mr. Krishna Mule were also present.
