Veer Baburao’s literature should be created – Collector Sanjay Meena.

Gadchiroli Oct. 22 (District Correspondent) Describing Veer Baburao Shedmake as a great hero working for India’s freedom struggle, District Collector Sanjay Meena has called upon the people to create his literature to carry forward his identity and recognition at the higher level.

He was speaking at the ‘Martyrdom Day’ of Veer Baburao Shedmake, that was organized by Veer Baburao Adiwasi Prabodhan Samiti at the Niyojan Bhavan here on Friday.

Dr. shiwnath Kumbhare, President of Gurudeo Sewa Mandal, presided over the programme while Mr. Rohidas Raut, journalist, Ms. Kusum Alam, social worker, Santosh Meshram, Ms. Annapurna Shidam were the chief guests.

Mr. Meena further said it is really a great thing that Veer Baburao sacrificed his life for the country at the young age of just 25 years. This is a memorable event in the history of the freedom struggle that will always give inspiration to the present generation. His thoughts and heroic deeds need to be kept alive in the form of literature and statues. The local people should take an initiative for this and the government will extend necessary cooperation, he assured.

In his presidential speech, Dr. Kumbhare recalled the historic contribution of Veer Baburao in India’s freedom movement and said it will be remembered for the several generations. The role played by this great son of soil in protecting the tribals rights and water, forest and land from the British Rulers. There are several other tribal heroes in Indian history who have given commendable contribution in the freedom movement of the country, he pointed out.

The other guests also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the life of Veer Baburao and his revolutionary work. Dr. Shiwnath Kumbhare, Mr. Bharat Kulsange, Dr. Prakash Kirkire were felicitated for their contribution in the social field by presenting them shawl and bouquets at the hands of Collector Meena on the occasion.

Mr. Vasantrao Kulsange, President of the Prabodhan Samiti delivered an introductory speech and gave the details of the activities being taken up by the Samiti in memory of Veer Baburao. Mr. Manohar Hepat conducted the programme and Mr. Lomesh Gedam proposed the vote of thanks.

A large number of people attended the programme. Ms. Pornima Kulsange, Harshwardhan Kulsange, Buddhabhushan Kulsange and others took pains for the success of the programme.
