Gadchiroli Dec. 16 (District Correspondent) Various political parties, social and religious organizations in Gadchiroli have demanded strict action against the person who desecrated the replica of the Indian Constitution in Parbhani and those responsible for the death of the Ambedkarite activist Somnath Suryavanshi.
A delegation of these organizations submitted a memorandum to District Collector Sanjay Daine addressed to the Governor and Chief Minister of Maharashtra this afternoon.
The delegation also demanded that the accused in the case of sexual assault on a minor tribal girl in a village in Gadchiroli taluka be given strict punishment by a fast-track court and financial assistance be provided to the girl.
In Parbhani, on December 10, 2024, a person desecrated the replica of the Indian Constitution. Strongly condemning this treasonous act, the delegation demanded strict action against the person under the Sedition Act. Also, the CBI should investigate this case and search for the masterminds in this and action should be taken against them too.
The young man Somnath Suryavanshi, who was protesting in the Parbhani case, died while in judicial custody. It was also demanded that strict action be taken against those responsible for this death and that the cases filed against the protesting citizens should be withdrawn and the protesters should be released immediately.
A minor tribal girl in Gadchiroli taluka was sexually assaulted by a man. In order to get a quick judgement in this case, the case should be tried in a fast-track court and the accused should be given strict punishment, it was further demanded. The government should provide financial assistance of at least Rs. 50 lakhs for her further education and care, as the parents of the girl are very poor, demanded the delegation.
