Gadchiroli Aug. 10 (District Correspondent) The ‘World Tribals Day’ was celebrated at Samidha College of Civil Services Adapall (Gogaon) on aug. 9 last.
President of the Institute Mr. Kalidas Raut, presided over the programme while Principal in-charge Tilesh Mohurle, Prof. Ankush Gohne, Prof. Pritam Kohpare, Prof. Sapna Kunghadkar, Prof. Sneha Mohurle, Madhukar Rohankar, Mithun Urade were prominently present.
In his presidential speech, Mr. Kalidas Raut spoke on the tribal’s identity and contribution in the freedom struggle of the country and said that a tribal society is very ancient society. This society lives with honesty, conserves water, forest, land, minerals. It has a rich tradition and customs which need to be maintained for its independent existence on earth. It is very unfortunate that this ancient and aboriginal community has remained backward and could not progress well as yet, he said and expressed the need of making concerted efforts for the all-round progress of the community.
Ms. Sapna said the tribals could not come into the main stream of society and development even after all these years of Independence. The tribals are still lagging behind and this backwardness is a stigma on the Indian society.
Prof. Ankush Gohane explained the purpose of this Day in his introductory speech. The college organized this programme to highlight the importance of the tribals in the society, he told. The students of the college Aditya Gedam, Chanda Hichami, Sharwari Randive, Dipali Shende also expressed their views on the occasion. Ms. Kashish conducted the programme and Tejaswini Gandharlawar proposed the vote of thanks.
