Tribal activists take out ‘Mahila Sanvad Yatra’.

Gadchiroli March 7 (District Correspondent) The activists of tribal community have taken out a ‘Mahila Sanvad Yatra’ that will move in the entire district and study the problems of the tribal women.

The yatra was started from Baburao Madavi square of the city after garlanding the portrait of the late tribal leader. Ms. Kusum Alam, poetess and activist, Dr. Waman Shedmake, well known author from Bhandara, Vinod Madavi of Adiwasi Yuwa Parishad, Ms. Shalini Kumre, Amol Kulmethe, youth leader, Sunita Usendi, Smita Naitam, Premila Ramteke were present.

The activists then garlanded the portraits of Shivaji Maharaj, Birsa Munda and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar before starting their journey. The activists will visit the tribal villages, interact with the people and understand their problems. The developmental issues of the villages will also be known from the local villagers. A memorandum about all these issues will then be submitted to the state and the central government, told Ms. Kusum Alam to the media persons at the press club.

The comman people are suffering from the present economic situation, capitalism and corporatisation. There is tremendous discontent among the tribals also. All these issues will be covered during the yatra, said Ms. Alam.

Strengthening the ‘Gotul’ system, creating ‘donation’ system to ensure that nobody faces starvation and every child goes to school, preserving language and history, developing tribal life values, opening tribal women study centre at Gondwana University, spreading the philosophy of justice and equality, expediting the development as per five point programme of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and developing the concept of self-reliant society advocated by Mahatma Gandhi are the main objectives of this yatra, told Ms. Alam.
