
Gadchiroli Feb. 14 (District Correspondent) Three hardcore Maoists, including two women cadres, have surrendered before the police and CRPF today. The reward of Rs. 38 lakhs was declared on the naxals.
The names of these naxals have been given as Vikram alias Mangalsingh alias Sandip Tulavi (40), CYPC, DVCM, Dy. Commander Company No. 10, resident of Gurrekasa, Tah. Dhanora, 2) Nilabai alias Anusaya Uike (55), DVCM, Kutul LOS, Maad Division, resident of Medpalli, Tah. Bhamragad and 3) Vasanti alias Surekha alias Dullo Hidami (36), ACM, PPCM, C-Section Commander, Company No. 10, resident of Gurrekasa, Tah. Dhanora.
Vikram was recruited as Member in Tipagad LOS in 2004 and worked until 2005, Nilabai was recruited in Bhamragad LOS in December1988 and worked until 1995. Vasanti was recruited as Member in KMS (Krantikari Adiwasi Mahila Sangathan) of Gurrekasa in 2008 and worked until 2009.
Due to the continuous patrolling by the police, it had become difficult to move around in the forest, senior Maoist cadres don’t pay attention to medical problems, during encounters, male Maoists ran away leaving woman Maoists and often got killed, fellow tribals were killed solely on suspicion of being police informers, women are badly discriminated, senior Maoists instruct to collect money for the movement/people but never used for them are some of the reasons for this surrender according to police.
Maharashtra Government had announced a reward of Rs. 16 lakhs on Vikram Rs. 16 lakhs on Nilabai, Rs. 6 lakhs on Vasanti. After surrender, Vikram will receive Rs. 8.5 Lakhs as reward declared by the Central Government & Maharashtra Government for rehabilitation, Nilabai will receive Rs. 8.5 Lakhs and Vasanti will receive Rs. 05 Lakhs, informd the police.
Due to intensified Anti-Maoist operations of Gadchiroli Police, 53 hardcore Maoists have surrendered from the year 2022 till date. This is the 20th surrender of this year till date.

Mr. Neelotpal, SP, Gadchiroli has assured that all necessary assistance would be provided to those willing to surrender and join the mainstream society. Furthermore, he appealed to active Maoists to renounce the path of violence and adopt the path of peace.
