Gadchiroli Jan. 31 (District Correspondent) A two-day state-level convention of the Newspaper Vendors Association was held at the Cultural Hall here recently.

The program was inaugurated by Gadchiroli MLA Dr. Milind Narote. State Association President Sunil Patankar presided while former MLA Devrao Holi, former MLA Dr. Namdev Usendi, former Z. P. Vice President Manohar Poretti, former MC chief Suresh Poreddiwar, Dr. Ashwini Yadav, Pramod Pipere, Jitubhau Dhatrak, State Working President Balaji Pawar, General Secretary  Vikas Suryavanshi, Rajendra Tikar, Shivgonda Khot, Chhattisgarh President Vinod Kumar Sinha, Sanjay Pawse, State Vice President Dinesh Uke, Santosh Shirbhate, Anna Jagtap, Ravindra Kulkarni, Raghunath Kamble, Vinod Pannase, Prakash Unhale were present.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Patankar said that various demands of newspaper vendors are pending with the government and the Association has been continuously following up for these demands but they have not been fulfilled yet. He appealed to the newspaper vendors across the state, to strengthen the organization.

Dr. Milind Narote said that newspaper vendors are the main support pillars of the newspapers. We will always stand by them to solve their problems. Dr. Usendi praised the work of the vendors and assured that he will cooperate with them in their future struggle. Dr. Holi expressed his determination to support them for future programs.

For the success of the program, Gadchiroli Association President Anil Balekramkar, Convention Convenors Rajendra Gavhare, Sanjay Akhre, Secretary Lomesh Bambole, Prashant Vadhai, Maroti Balekramkar, Ankush Bobate, Sandeep Aakere, Devendra Barapatre, Purushottam Rode, Umesh Sontakke, Vilas Bonde, Dnyaneshwar Gohne, Akash Vairagade, Prakash Bobate, Tejas Bobate, Prakash Ghogare, Darshan Pinjarkar and others cooperated.

Mr. Rajendra Gavhare made introductory speech, Ms. Vaishnavi Dakhne moderated the program and Sanjay Akhre proposed the vote of thanks.

The parents of martyred police jawan Satish Kasanwar were honored by the Association. Before joining the police force, Satish had worked as a newspaper vendor in Gadchiroli city for many years. Mr. Purushottam Chaudhary,founder of the Adoption Centre was also honoured .

The main attraction of this convention was the tribal culture, the Rela Dance, as well as an attractive scene that created awareness among the readers about preserving the reading culture.
