Gadchiroli April 30 (District Correspondent) Various social organizations in the city have demanded stringent action against those desecration the statue of Mahatma Jyotiba Fuley at Yaotmal recently.
A delegation of the workers met the Resident Dy. Collector and submitted him a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
Mali Samaj Sanghagan and Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmulan Samiti also demanded to take care of the statues of Mahatma Jotiba Phule and all the great men of Maharashtra through the government agencies so that such reprehensible incidents do not happen in the future.
CCTV cameras should be made operational in the statue premises, the statue area should be properly fenced, police patrolling should be conducted regularly, cleanliness should be maintained, lights should be installed in the area, statues should have overhead covers etc were the other demands raised by the delegation.
Statues of great people should be repaired and painted every year on the occasion of their birth anniversary.
District President of Mali Samaj Sangathana Devrao Mohurle, Sukhdev Jengathe, Ms. Sudhatai Chaudhari, Haridas Kotarange, Phulchand Gurnule, Shankar Chaudhary, Pournima Nikode, Jyoti Jengthe, Sudha Bhendarkar, Sangeeta Nikode, Vilas Nimbokar of ANIS were present in the delegation.
