Gadchiroli Aug. 23 (District Correspondent) In a dramatic turn of events, a rare saw-scaled viper, part of the notorious “big four” venomous snakes, was rescued from a potentially dangerous situation in Sironcha town recently. The snake, unusually found in this region, was discovered by Mr. Ranjeet Gagapurpu, a local Nagar Panchayat councillor, who encountered it in the dashboard of his bike.
Mr. Gagapurpu, preparing for his routine workout, noticed movement in his bike’s dashboard and quickly realized it was a snake. Acting swiftly, he abandoned his bike and contacted Mr. Naeem Sheikh, an experienced snake catcher and a police constable known for his expertise in handling dangerous reptiles.
Mr. Sheikh responded promptly and arrived at the scene. Over the course of three intense hours, he carefully and skilfully rescued the viper, ensuring both the snake’s and Gagapurpu’s safety. The operation was challenging but successful, highlighting Mr. Sheikh’s remarkable bravery and competence.
