Gadchiroli Dec. 3 (District Correspondent) Gadchiroli district Congress Committee will launch signature campaign from Dec. 5 next in the district to protest against EVM machines.
This was declared by DCC President Mahendra Bramhanwade in a press conference at the Press Club here this afternoon.
The recent results of Maharashtra Assembly have created strong doubts among the candidates, comman voters and party workers that the EVM machines have been manipulated by the administration because of the pressure of the ruling BJP. There have been very surprising results all over the state including the district of Gadchiroli. People therefore don’t trust the EVM machines and these machines must be ousted from the election process and elections be conducted by ballot papers, demanded Bramhanwade.
In Gadchiroli district Congress candidate in Lok Sabha won with the margin of 1.11 lakh votes but we lost Gadchiroli seat and won Armori with a very low margin. How can such a huge difference of votes can take place within just six months, Bramhanwade asked and held the EVM machines responsible for this miracle.
There is a difference of more than 5 percent votes declared by the district administration at the end of the polling and the final figures. How can there be such a massive difference of votes, Bramhanwade also asked alleging that there is a strong suspicion about the manipulation of the EVM machines.
To protest against the use of EVM machines during elections the Congress Party will launch signature campaign all over the district and around 1.50 lakhs of signatures will be collected from the citizens, he told.
Mr. Ramdas Masram, newly elected MLA told that he expected the victory with more margin of votes as the overall atmosphere was quite favourable for him in the entire constituency, but he could win by the margin of just 6,200 votes which shows there might be manipulation with the EVM machine.
Also present at the press conference were Mr. Ramdas Masram, MLA from Armori, Mr. Manohar Patil Poretti, Congress candidate from Gadchiroli, Satish Vidhate, city Congress chief, Adv. Kavita Mohorkar, womens congress chief, Shankarrao Salotkar, Rajesh Thakur, Ramesh Chaudhari, Sunil Chadgulwar, Prabhakarrao Wasekar, Suresh Bhandekar, Abdulbhai Panjwani, Nandu Wailkar and many others.
