Gadchiroli Aug. 20 (District Correspondent) Indian knowledge tradition is very rich. It has unprecedented synergy of knowledge and science, mundane, religion and sacrifice.  Since the Indian knowledge tradition has been given special importance in the national education policy, there is no doubt that education will develop through its rich values, said Dr. Anil Kulkarni of Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University.

He was peaking at the inauguration of e-seminar on Guardians of Wisdom: Role of Libraries in Preserving and Promotion of Indian Knowledge organized by the library department of the Mahatma Gandhi college, Armori the other day.

Mr. Manoj Wanmali, Secretary of Manoharbhai Shikshan Mandal, College Principal Dr. Lal Singh Khalsa, Vice Principal Dr. Chandrakant Dorlikar, Head of Library Department Dr. Kishore Vasurke, Dr. Satish Kola and Dr. Chhagan Mungmode were present.

The seminar was organized in two ssessions. The first session was held under the chairmanship of Principal Dr. Ganpat Deshmukh in which Dr. Rajendra Kumbhar, Head of Department of Library and Information Science, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, spoke on “Integration of Traditional Knowledge in Modern Education”.

Through his guidance, he asserted that Indian traditional knowledge is infinite and its conservation and dissemination should be done with the help of modern technology and for that the librarian’s role is important and he should continue to acquire technical knowledge.

The second session was held under the chairmanship of Principal Dr. Atul Mahajan of Renuka College, Nagpur. Dr. Kalapini Agasti, explained the background of Indian knowledge system through some historical examples, how foreign rulers tried to destroy the rich traditional knowledge and took advantage.   Appreciating the revolution brought about by the modernization of the library, he said that the conservation and dissemination of knowledge has become easier. He also expressed his happiness that the next generation will get to study this valuable knowledge through the National Education Policy 2020.

The introduction of the seminar was done by the principal of the college, Dr. Lal Singh Khalsa, moderated by Dr. Satish Kola and the vote of thanks was done Dr. Kishore Wasurke.  Dr Ramnik Lengure of Renuka College, Nagpur and Prof. Chakradhar Bhurre of Mahatma Gandhi College, Nagbhid gave the support.  All students, professors, librarians participated on the online platform.
