Gadchiroli June 8 (District Correspondent) Mr. Gautam Meshram, Chief Organizer of Sanvidhan Foundation has sent suggestions signed by 20 office bearers to the state government regarding the School Education Curriculum Framework (SCF-2024) based on NEP-2020.
In order to create the citizens with constitutional values, core elements should be determined in the state curriculum plan and the deadline for submission of feedback should be extended, he has demanded.
On behalf of the state government, process is currently underway to finalize SCF. On this background these recommendations have been sent.
In a letter sent by him, it has been stated that through school education, it is expected to create the caring, responsible and productive citizen who work in the interest of the society and the nation, who are useful for maintaining national unity and constitutional values and democracy. The Constitution adopted the principle of scientific approach so that the society could come out of superstitions and rituals. Values of justice, equality, freedom, fraternity, secularism, democracy, scientific approach can be inculcated only through primary education, said the letter.
To create awareness of constitutional responsibilities, to understand the history of Indian freedom movement, eliminating social barriers, equality of men and women equality, developing Nationalism, Equality, Democracy and Secularism, Nurture of scientific approach, elimination of superstitions. adherence to Small Family Standard, protection of environment, combination of globalization and localization tools, empowerment of women and weaker sections are some of the important points suggested by Mr. Meshram in the SCF.
The curriculum should develop students’ understanding and awareness to the desired level in accordance with each of these core components, he has pointed out. It is anti-constitutional and against the national interest to include Manache Shloka, Bhagavad Gita, Manusmriti and religious and caste-based subjects in the school curriculum. This can create a threat to the unity and integrity of the nation by fostering inequality, he has cautioned.
Justice, fraternity, equality can be established in the society only with constitutional values. And this can be done from primary education itself. So, the state curriculum plan should first include the core elements of the previous plan in a concrete form. Some core ingredients can be inserted, if needed, he said.
The period for submitting public feedback should be extended to at least six months to increase public participation in the draft of SCF, Meshram has demanded. He has also appealed to the people to send their reactions to the state government in a large number and to register their participation.
