Gadchiroli May 21 (District Correspondent) The residents of village Salmara in Armori taluka, demonstrated their strength against the illegal sale of alcohol in their village. They also destroyed the alcohol and materials found in the liquor sellers’ houses and in the forest area. The liquor sellers also promised not to sell liquor again.

In October 2023, a meeting of Muktipath and village association was held in which marathon competition, women’s health education, saving children from cancer etc were discussed to stop the sale of illegal liquor. After that, affidavits were taken from the liquor sellers of the village. The village organization warned that the sale of liquor should be stopped from immediately.

Due to this, the sale of liquor was stopped for a few months. However, some liquor sellers raised their heads again and resumed their illegal business. Now, it was decided to organize a meeting again against the illegal sale of liquor. Accordingly, the village organization and the villagers went to the houses of the liquor sellers and wrote affidavits from them and warned them to stop selling illegal liquor. The liquor seller took an oath and said that they will stop the illegal business.

Meanwhile, the villagers and Muktipath team carried out a search operation in the forest area and 10 litres of alcohol was found which was destroyed. Village Association President Kalpana Narnawre, Kashinath Narnawrere, Police Patil Rajhans Wakde, Vanita Vatti, Parvata Gharat, Muktipath Taluka Organizer Vinod Kohpare, Sweety Akre, Diksha Telkap and others were present.
