
Gadchiroli June 19 (District Correspondent) The death anniversary of late Mr. Baburaoji Madavi, senior tribal leader and the architect of district was observed by Baburao Madavi Memorial Committee, Akhil Bhartiy Adiwasi Vikas Parishad and other tribal social organizations the other day. Rich tributes were paid to Mr. Madavi by garlanding his portrait at Baburao Madavi Chouk on Dhanora Road of the city.
Gadchiroli Chimur Lok Sabha MP Dr. Namdeo Kirsan, Vidarbha Working President of Adiwasi vikas Parishad Ghanshyam Madavi, Chairman of the Memorial Committee Gulabrao Madavi, District General Secretary of All India Tribal Employees Federation Sadanand Taram garlanded the portrait in presence of hundreds of tribals and other citizens.
Later on a meeting was held at the late Lahuji Madavi Sabhagriha of the Tribal Forest Federation in which leaders spoke on the life and contribution of Mr. Baburao Madavi in the creation of Gadchiroli district and progress of the tribal community and the district as a whole. The speakers described him as a visionary leader who struggled for the tribals throughout his life and underlined the need of carrying forward his legacy.
Also present on the occasion were Mr. Amarsingh Gedam, Madhavrao Gawad, Niwas Kodap, Satish Vidhate, Prakash Taksande, Vinayak Kodap, Gajendra Gedam, Devrao Alam, Dr. Rakesh Chandekar, Dr. Sonal Kove, Dr. Chetan Kove, Manohar Kannake, Amol Kulmethe, Uttam Gedam, Marotrao Ichodkar, Vinayak Kodape, Gangadhar Madavi, Vitthalrao Gedam, Varsha Shedmake, Manisha Madavi, Laxmi Kannake, Aarti Kangale, Tanuja Kumre and many others.
The workers of different organizations including All India Tribal Employees Federation, Jangoraytad Women’s Association, Nari Shakti Sanghatana, Adivasi Halba-Halbi Karmachari Mahasangh, Adivasi Ekta Yuva Parishad, Tribal Doctors Association, Tribal Officers Forum, Gondwana Ganatantra Party, Adivasi Pardhan Jamat Panchayat, Adivasi Tiger Sena, Krantivir Naraysingh Uike Sangharsh Samiti, Gondwana Gotul Samiti, Birsa Brigade were present.
