
Gadchiroli Sept. 7 (District Correspondent) To mark the birth anniversary of former President of India and great philosopher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, retired teachers in the district were felicitated grandly by the Gadchiroli District Congress Committee in a special programme held on the grounds of Congress office here the other day.
Gadchiroli-Chimur Lok Sabha MP Dr. Namdeo Kirsan, former MP Marotrao Kowase, District Congress President Mahendra Brahmanawade, former Z. P. Vice President Manohar Poretti, State Congress Secretary Pankaj Guddewar, All India Youth Congress National Secretary Adv. Vishwajit Kovase, Shiv Sena leader Vasudeo Shedmake, former Z. P. Member Jagannath Borkute, City Congress President Satish Vidhate, Mahila Congress President Adv. Kavita Moharkar were prominently present.
Retired teachers Devaji Sontakke, Dattatreya Kharwade, Ramkrishna Tajne, Samsherkhan Pathan, Linatai Hakim, Manohar Navghade, Pandit Pudke, Mahendra Katenge, Rupchand Akhre, Prakash Sonawane, Krishnarao Nardelwar, Kishore Zade, Ramesh Gadpayle, Rajendra Hivarkar, Prakash Dudhe, Anandrao Pardhi, Dnyaneshwar Mamidwar, Madhuri Madavi, Radhesham Bhoyar, R. L. Chaudhari and many others were honoured with shawls and gift items.
While highlighting the contribution of teachers in their speeches, the dignitaries said that social transformation is possible only through education and this important task is done by the teachers. The teachers of Gadchiroli district have been wholeheartedly serving the cause of education by providing proper morals and knowledge to the students even in difficult circumstances, they stated.
The teachers appreciated the initiative and expressed their gratitude towards the Congress Party for honouring them.
Mr. Dattatray Kharwade conducted the programme and Mr. Satish vidhate proposed the vote of thanks. A large number of Congress workers and citizens attended the programme.
