Gadchiroli July 24 (District Correspondent) Due to the rains and discharge of the dams, the river channels are overflowing. The rescue teams of the district administration are running to help the disaster victims. Disaster was averted by the promptness of the rescue team comprising of SDRF, Police, Revenue, Health, Disaster Friends today in various cases of flood-surrounded areas.

Ms. Kalavati, (20)a pregnant woman from Ashifabad, Telangana State, started labour pains while visiting her relatives at Sironcha. As she came from outside the state, her name was not in the pre-monsoon registered pregnant women list of the district administration. But on getting information about this late in the night, the local revenue,health rescue team took her out of the flood on time and shifted her to Primary Health Center of Tekda. She had a normal delivery at 1.45 midnight under medical treatment and supervision.

In another case Ms. Kalpana Sachin Parse (32) of Mademool, had a snake bite. A District Rescue Team this morning safely pulled her out as the road was blocked due to flood and admitted to the General Hospital, Gadchiroli for treatment. She is undergoing treatment there and the woman is now safe.

Ms. Payal Gawde, (23) of Venganur in Mulchera taluka, was reported by a local Asha worker as having chest pain. Later, the woman was safely evacuated by the joint team of local Mulchera and Etapalli and admitted to Primary Health Centre Regdi for further treatment.

In the fourth case, the bridge over the Pal River on the Gadchiroli -Armori National Highway had accumulated water. On receiving information that a truck driver was stuck on this bridge along with his vehicle, Tehsildar, Inspector of Police, with the help of SDRF, Police Squad, the said driver Rajkumar Krishnamurthy, District Eliyar, in Tamil Nadu was safely evacuated.

In the southern part of the district, near the inter-state bridge connecting the two states of Maharashtra – Telangana, the village Vangepalli had a big pothole in the road, and the possibility of an accident had arisen. As soon as the Additional Collector of Aheri got information about this, he rushed the spot and filled the potholes immediately with the help of JCB, tractor and boulders. Along with this, the construction department was instructed to immediately fill other potholes lying on the road in this area.
