Gadchiroli Aug. 22 (District Correspondent) The workers and supporters of All India Republican Party participated actively in an Bharat Bandh agitation that was observed in protest against the classification of reservation to SC and STs. and made the agitation successful in the district.
During the protest, the activists of the Republican Party, along with all the other party officials visited all the schools and colleges and requested the heads of these institutions to extend their support to the bandh agitation as the issue is related with the future of the backward class students. The schools and colleges gave positive response to the call and closed their institutions making the bandh a grand success.
The workers also moved through the city and appealed the shopkeepers, roadside stall holders to shut down their establishments upon which they also responded and put their shutters down.
Huge demonstrations were later on held at the Indira Gandhi Square of the city where all party leaders gave speeches and strongly opposed the classification of reservation.
All India Republican Party District President Hansraj Undirwade, State Secretary Rajan Borkar, State Secretary Keshav Samritwar, District Secretary Prahlad Raipure, District Organizer Hemant Sahare, Office Secretary Ashok Khobragade, Senior Workers Jagan Mahila Aghadi Regional Vice President Surekhatai Barsagade, Mahila Aghadi District President Nitatai Sahare, District Organizer Dr. Ankita Dhakade, Joint Secretary Kavita Vaidya, Youth Aghadi District President Narendra Raipure, Secretary Punyawan Sorate, Gadchiroli Assembly In-charge Pradeep Bhaisare, City Womens President Vanmala Zade, Vice President Jyoti Chaudhari, Gadchiroli Taluka President Punjaram Jambhulkar, City Vice President Chandrabhan Raut, Secretary Deepak Deotale, Dadaji Dhakade, Jayendra Raut and many other office bearers, workers and party supporters were present on the occasion.
The contribution of the Republican Party workers in making Bharat Bandh successful is being widely discussed in the district. Republican Party has always been fighting for the Dalits, adiwasis and other marginalized people of the country. Reservation issue is quite important for these classes and that is why our workers took active part in this agitation, said Mr. Hansraj Undirwade, District President while talking to reporters during the agitation.
