Gadchiroli Aug. 19 (District Correspondent) All India Republican Party district unit has demanded Rs. 50,000 per acre compensation to the flood hit farmers in the district.

A delegation of the party workers met the District Collector Sanjay Daine recently and submitted him a memorandum addressed to the chief minister of Maharashtra.

Due to continuous heavy rains for the fifteen to twenty days in the district, the rivers have flooded and the paddy sown and planted in the fields has been severely damaged. The farmers have suffered an innumerable loss as their crops got inundated in the flood waters and they are not in a position to come out of the crisis. A financial assistance of Rs. 50,000 per acre should be given to the affected farmers, it was demanded.

The delegation also requested that adequate health services should be made available in the remote areas due to the prevailing situation and prevent the spread of disease.

The delegation also separately met the Agriculture Officer Khobragade and submitted her a memorandum demanding that crop insurance should be given to the affected farmers.

All India Republican Party District President Hansraj Undirwade, State vice President Prof. Prakash Dudhe, Regional Secretary Prof. Rajan Borkar, District Secretary Prahlad Raipure, Gadchiroli Assembly in-charge Pradeep Bhaisare, Youth Aghadi District President Narendra Raipure, Gadchiroli taluka joint secretary Arun Bhaisare, Mahila Aghadi Kavita Vaidya were present in the delegation.
