Gadchiroli Sept. 21 (District Correspondent) The All-India Republican Party has demanded that the salary of women cooks working under APJ Abdul Kalam Amrit Aharan Yojana should be increased and their arrears should be paid immediately.

A delegation of the party met the Additional District Collector and submitted him a memorandum in this regard. The activists also met and discussed the issue with Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Ms. Ayushi Singh.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Amrit Aharan scheme has been started since 2015 and women were appointed as cooks at a nominal monthly honorarium  of Rs 1000 only. For the past 9 years, these women have been doing their work regularly and serving the government and the public, but their salary has not been increased despite many requests.

These women are doing the very important and hard work of cooking in the Anganwadis. Recruiting women for such low wages is a sort of exploitation and abuse of women and a violation of human rights and an insult to all women. The memorandum also said that this is a direct violation of the minimum wages act of the government itself.

The Republican party demanded that this exploitation of women cooks should be stopped immediately and their wages should be increased to at least Rs. 20000.

Additional Collector assured to send this memorandum to the government. The Chief Executive Officer assured the delegation that the outstanding honorarium would be paid soon.

In the delegation, District President of Republican Party Hansraj Undirwade, State Vice President Prof. Prakash Dudhe, State Secretary Prof. Rajan Borkar, Keshavrao Samritwar, Legislative Assembly Speaker Pradeep Bhaisare, Krishna Chaudhary, District General Secretary Pralhad Raipure, Office Secretary Ashok Khobragade, Youth President Narendra Raipure, Geetha Uike, Anju Gedam, Sarita Gawle, Priyanka Ramteke of the Women Cooks Union and many activists and women cooks were present.
