Gadchiroli Aug. 10 (District Correspondent) Forest vegetables that are found naturally without the use of any chemical fertilizers are full of medicinal properties. Since these vegetables keep us away from diseases by increasing the immune system, MLA Dr. Devrao Holi said while inaugurating the ‘Ranbhaji Mahotsava’ here the other day.

The festival was organized by Agriculture Technology Management System (ATMA) and Agriculture Department jointly at the Agricultural School, Sonapur.

Additional CEO Rajendra Bhuyar, District Superintendent Agriculture Officer Basavaraj Mastoli, Animal Husbandry Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ghadge, Head of Agricultural Science Centre Dr. Sandeep Karhale, NABARD’s Paunikar, Smart Project Nodal Officer Archana Raut, subject specialist Suchit Lakde, Ms. Pratibhatai Chaudhari, Bhalchandra Thakur, Chandrasekhar Bhadange were prominently present on this occasion.

Mr. Mastoli gave guidance regarding the emphasis on preparation of different dishes of forest vegetables. Dr. Sandeep Karhale gave detailed information about the importance of forest vegetables in diet. Ms. Suchit Lakde spoke about the diet values and information about the identification, importance, health benefits, uses, properties of wild vegetables. Ms. Pratibhatai Choudhari appealed for maximum use of wild vegetables in the diet.

Ranbhaji Mahotsav has been organized at taluka level from 9th to 15th August. Project Director Atma has appealed to maximum number of farmers, women farmers, farmer groups, farmer producer companies to participate in it. A wild vegetable cooking competition is organized at the taluka level and in the said competition the first prize is Rs.2001, the second prize is Rs.1501, the third prize will be Rs.1001.

Ms. Archana Raut made an introductory speech, Dr. Abhijit Kapgate conducted the programme. Ranbhaji information booklet was released by dignitaries. 20 farmers groups, women farmers groups, MAVIM groups participated in the festival.

For the success of the program, Suraj Patil, Hemant Ambedare, Hemantkumar Undirwade, Balu Gaykwad, Kishore Kamble, Lakhan Mate, Gokul Munghate Arun Kotpalliwar and others took pains.
