Gadchiroli Jan. 3 (District Correspondent) The farmers from village Sakhra have demanded rates to their agricultural land acquired by the administration for the railway line as promised by the administration itself.

A delegation of the farmers met the District Collector Avishant Panda in this regard under the leadership of Republican Party leader Rohidas Raut this afternoon and submitted him a memorandum. The aggrieved farmers then addressed a press conference at the Press club here and narrated their problems.

Before acquiring the land, a rate of Rs. 1 crore per acre for the irrigated land was promised by the Sub divisional Officer in the meetings of farmers and railway authorities. However, during the actual registry of the land we were given merely Rs. 12 lakhs per acre for irrigated land and Rs. 10 lakhs for the non-irrigated lands, told the farmers.

By doing so the farmers were put to heavy loss. Not only this, the railway department acquired more land while doing the actual work than we were paid for but no compensation for the additional land was paid, they further complained.

The compensation of the total land used by the railways should be paid to us at the rate promised by the SDO immediately, demanded the farmers. They also demanded the compensation for the crop loss happened due to the railway line laying work.

We have been raising this demand for the long time. We had even resorted to a rasta roko agitation for the same but our demands have not been fulfilled as yet and we are being ignored by the administration, alleged the farmers. They warned to launch an intensive agitation if the demands are not fulfilled soon.

Prominently present at the press conference were Mr. Mr. Rohidas Raut,Pradeep Bhaisare of All India Republican Party, Punyawan Sorte, Sarpanch of Sakhra,  and the affected farmers Diduji Ambade, Vasudeo Gaikwad, Dnyandev Meshram, Chindhu Gedam, Anandrao Bhaisare, Umaji chudhri, Lomesh Bhanarkar, Sadashiv Doijad, Narendra Walde, Narendra Undirwade and others.
