Gadchiroli Sept. 7 (District Correspondent) Prof. Sandhya Shesharao Yelekar of Rani Durgavati Girls Junior College here was felicitated with the Kranti Jyoti Savitribai Phule State Teacher Award by the state government on Teachers Day at Mumbai.
The award consisted Rs. 1.10 lakhs in cash, a badge of honour and a citation. On this occasion, the Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha Adv. Rahul Narvekar, Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar, Education Department Principal Secretary I.A. Kundan, Education Commissioner Suraj Mandhare, Primary Education State Project Director R Vimala, Teacher MLA Kiran Saranaik were present.
Prof. Sandhya Yelekar performs her school duties punctually, constantly motivates the students to participate in extra-curricular activities. She involves the girls in activities such as elimination of superstitions, construction of embankments etc. Writing, Rangoli painting are her favourite hobbies.
She is a former senate member of Gondwana University and a life member of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Study Centre. She has received Manaswini of the year award and honoured by Lions Club International for her social service. Prof. Yelekar is being congratulated from various quarters for this award.
