Gadchiroli Aug. 16 (District Correspondent) Gadchiroli police force carried out a 55 km foot-campaign and hoisted the national flag to celebrate the Independence Day at highly sensitive areas of Katrangatta and Pengunda villages, the most remotely situated and sensitive places in the district.

Under the leadership of Amar Mohite, Sub Divisional Police Officer, Bhamragarh Police Station Dhodraj Party, 2 Squads of C 60 Commando force and 1 CRPF Squad celebrated the Independence Day at village Pengunda by hoisting the flag by walking on foot for 20 km.

Also under the leadership of Mr. Ajay Kokate, Sub Divisional Police Officer, Aheri,  Naragunda Police Party, 2 Squads of C 60 commando force and 1 CRPF Squad marched 35 km on foot and visited village Katrangatta, a highly sensitive Maoist area, and celebrated Independence Day by hoisting the flag with the villagers.

On May 13, 2024, in an encounter with Maoists in the forest area of ​​Katrangatta village, the Gadchiroli police force succeeded in killing a total of 3 Maoists including one DVCM (Divisional Committee Member) rank cadre, one Company member and one Dalam member and eliminated the entire Permili Dalam of Maoists.

Maoists have been trying to hoist black flags on Independence Day in such remote villages, but Gadchiroli police foiled their plans and carried out the flag hoisting program in remote areas and at various police posts, sub-posts, police out posts on August 15. Also, the citizens of remote areas enthusiastically participated in the Tiranga campaign.

Along with this, in the last one year, the villagers from the newly established posts Wangeturi and Gardewada also participated enthusiastically in the flag hoisting program celebrating Independence Day with the police force. In celebration of Independence Day at Poste Wangeturi and Pomken Gardewada, a sports competition was organized for the youth of remote areas and school materials were distributed to the students. Processions with the national flag were taken out by the Gadchiroli police force at various posts, sub posts, out posts level in the district in remote areas with the participation of villagers.

Similarly, flag hoisting program was completed by Superintendent of Police Mr. Nilotpal at the police headquarters here. On the eve of the Independence Day, 17 police officers and jawans of Gadchiroli Police Force who had received the President’s Police Gallantry Medal were also felicitated at the programme.

Superintendent of Police Shri. Nilotpal wished everyone present on Independence Day and met the families of the martyrs and learned about their problems. Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) M. Ramesh hoisted the national flag at Aheri.
