Gadchiroli Sept. 22 (District Correspondent) In a major crackdown, the police have arrested 92 accused who illegally organized cockfighting markets and gambled on cockfighting at village Garanji Tola under Regdi Police Station in Gadchiroli sub division. A total of Rs. 44,26,400 has also been seized in the said action.

According to reports, on September 21, three teams of the Special Operations Team under the leadership of Assistant Superintendent of Police, Dhanora Aniket Hirde were carrying out an anti-Maoist operation in the Garanji Tola forest area  ​​under the jurisdiction of Police Station Regadi. When the officers and jawans of the police team went nearby and verified the matter, it was seen that some people were engaged in cock fighting and gambling on it.

The seniors were informed about this development and the police team conducted a raid. As soon as the police arrived, the gamblers fled towards the forest. However, during the said action, the police arrested a total of 92 accused from the spot and seized 46 old used motorcycles with an estimated total value of Rs. 16,10,000, 5 old used four-wheelers with an estimated total value of Rs. 26,00,000, 31 old used mobile phones with an estimated total value of Rs. 1,70,000, 14 cocks with an estimated total value of Rs. 3,200, 5 iron knives with an estimated total value of Rs. 250 and Rs. 42,950 in cash.

The material worth total of Rs. 44,26,400 was seized from the spot. A case has been registered against the 92 accused at Police Station Regadi, under section 12 (b) Maharashtra Gambling Act, co-section 11 (f) (n). A case has been also been registered under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and further investigation of the crime is being conducted by Regadi PSI Kunal Ingle.

The said action was carried out by Assistant Superintendent of Police, Dhanora Aniket Hirde and Special Operations Team API Vishwas Bagal, PSI Dnyaneshwar Dhumal, PSI Devaji Kovase and Anmaldar under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Mr. Nilotpal, Additional SP (Operations) M. Ramesh, Additional SP (Administration) Mr. Gokul Raj G.
